Apple Updates

Running ‘Software Update’ on Mac OS X:

  1. Click on the "System Preferences" icon in the Apple Menu.

     
  2. In the System Preferences window, select "Software Update"
     
  3. In the Software Update window, check the box labeled “Automatically check for updates when you have a network connection"

     
  4. At the bottom of the window, click the "Check Now" button
     
  5. Software Update will contact Apple, and retrieve information about the latest versions of system software and applications. If it finds newer versions than what you have installed on your computer, it will display a list of the updated items. Check the items you wish to install. Then click the "Install" button. You may be asked to type in your password.
     
  6. Some new components require that you accept a "License Agreement". We recommend you read over each agreement prior to clicking "Accept".
     
  7. Some new components may require you restarting your computer.
     
  8. If Software Update does not find any new components, it will inform you, and exit.

  1. Click on the "Apple Menu", then "Control Panels" then "Software Update"
     
  2. In the "System Preferences" window, select "Software Update"
     
  3. When the Software Update window is visible, click on the "Update Now" button.
     
  4. Software Update will contact Apple, and retrieve information about the latest versions of system software and applications. If it finds newer versions than what you have installed on your computer, it will display a list of the updated items. Check the items you wish to install.
     
  5. Click the "Install" button. You may be asked to type in your password.
